Metric

A quantitative measurement that represents that status of something that cannot be easily observed.

Definition

A metric is a quantitative measurement that represents that status of something that cannot be easily observed. It’s usually derived from a calculation. It might be expressed as an average, ratio or percentage, for example.

It is always a number, and never text – although it’s essential to describe the context in which the metric is relevant.

It’s distinct from a measure because it is always a number and may use a combination of measures in its calculation.
